The power of the Ohio Mayors Alliance comes from convening leaders from around the state and beyond to share ideas, best practices and experiences on issues that are affecting Ohioans every day. Together, we have the power to enact real change at the local level. Below are some of the meetings we hold throughout the year. If you are interested in sponsoring an event or want to learn more about attending please contact Katherine Liming.

Mayors, education and business leaders from across the state gathered in Columbus to discuss how Ohio will reach its big goal: By 2025, 65% of Ohioans, ages 25-64 will have a degree, certificate, or other postsecondary workforce credential of value in the workplace. As the nature of work in Ohio changes, how can Ohio’s communities adapt to ensure a strong workforce and a nationally competitive economy?

The Ohio Mayors Alliance used this quarterly membership meeting to release its Mayors’ Recommendations Report for Ohio’s next governor. We also invited the Nationwide Foundation to give a presentation on the Ohio Opioid Education Alliance, of which OMA is now a partner. We were joined by special guests, Mayor Stephen K Benjamin, City of Columbia and President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and Mayor Martin J. Walsh, City of Boston. Along with the release of our Recommendations Report, we released a joint report with the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Ohio Metro Economies: GMP and Job Growth. This report highlights the vital role Ohio’s metro economies play on the overall health of the state’s economy.

Since it’s formation in 2016, the Ohio Mayors Alliance has hosted a Mayors & Lawmakers Luncheon. This unique event brings together Ohio’s big city mayors with Ohio House and Senate members from across the state. At our first luncheon in 2017, we focused on the importance of community partnerships. The following year, we highlighted the challenges and opportunities of Ohio’s cities. We look forward to the next Mayors & Lawmakers Luncheon and continuing to help Ohio’s state and local leaders builder stronger partnerships.
