Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) was passed by Congress and signed into law in November 2021. The law authorizes over $1.2 trillion for transportation and infrastructure spending -some to expand existing federal grant programs, and about $550 billion to create new federal grant programs.

The White House released an IIJA Guidebook in May 2022 to help cities find and apply for the many grants that have been and will be made available through the law.

The IIJA in Ohio

In Ohio, efforts are underway to begin planning for and taking advantage of the many infrastructure opportunities available through the IIJA. OMA is working in partnership with Power a Clean Future Ohio to develop and operate an Infrastructure Grant Assistance Program that will help PCFO member cities compete for competitive federal grants for clean energy-related initiatives.

OMA is also working to develop a customized grants navigator that will help OMA cities identify and pursue federal grants through the IIJA.
