Coffee will be available as mayors and staff arrive, register for the meeting, and reconnect with colleagues from around Ohio.
10:30 OPENING REMARKS: OHIO MAYORS ALLIANCE DECEMBER MEMBERSHIP MEETING
The Board will provide opening remarks and facilitate introductions of mayors and new members. A recap of the recent statewide and municipal election results will also be provided, as well as a review of the OMA 2023 annual report.
11:00 COMMITTEE REPORTS: EDUCATION AND PUBLIC SAFETY
The bipartisan co-chairs of the Mayors Education Advocacy Leadership Committee and the Mayors & Police Chiefs Leadership Committee will provide a report on activities of the committees in 2023 and next steps for 2024.
11:30 OMA ELECTIONS FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS POSITIONS
The membership will vote on the re-election of current board members, as well as elect new members to replace three outgoing board members.
11:45 UPDATE & DISCUSSION: STATE LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES
This section will include an update on the political landscape at the Ohio statehouse, as well as a status report on current legislative issues and discussion of OMA’s advocacy priorities for 2024.
12:15 LUNCH SERVICE & PRESS CONFERENCE PREP
A buffet-style lunch will be served for mayors and staff. As lunch concludes, we will prepare for our annual press conference.
1:30 OHIO MAYORS ALLIANCE ANNUAL PRESS CONFERENCE
OMA members will join together to introduce our newest mayors, highlight the importance of state and local cooperation, and outline our priorities for 2024.
2:30 RECONVENE MEETING: PREVIEW PUBLIC SAFETY DISCUSSION
Summarize findings from Public Safety 360° workshop series and preview the next discussion on public safety partnerships.
2:45 THE IMPORTANCE OF PUBLIC SAFETY PARTNERSHIPS:
Ohio Department of Public Safety Director Andy Wilson will discuss how the department can provide support to cities, and discuss DPS’ Aerial Support Assistance to help reduce high speed chases.
Daryl S. McCormick, the Special Agent in Charge (Invited) of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Columbus Field Division, with operational responsibility for Ohio and most of the southern judicial district of Indiana will discuss support for crime gun investigation tools such as NIBIN and eTrace.

- JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef will provide an update on strategic economic development priorities and highlight efforts to expand opportunity in core sectors in communities across Ohio.
- Intel Vice President of Government Affairs Kevin Hoggatt will provide an update on the Intel factory being built in central Ohio and discuss key priorities for future growth and opportunity in and around Ohio.

Former Ohio Supreme Court Justices Maureen O’Connor and Yvette McGee Brown (invited) will discuss the proposed ballot measure to reform state and congressional redistricting in Ohio.
11:15 PREPARING FOR THE LEGALIZATION OF RECREATIONAL MARIJUNA
Hold for discussion on what to expect for local communities if Issue 2 passes, including lessons learned from other states.
11:45 ADJOURN MEETING, TRANSITION TO CLOSING LUNCHEON
12:00 – 1:30 CLOSING LUNCHEON: CELEBRATING OMA’s OUTGOING MAYORS
The closing luncheon will consist of a short program and recognition of the Ohio Mayors Alliance Members who are not seeking reelection or are term limited. The luncheon will be open to mayors, staff, invited guests, and OMA sponsors.
The outgoing OMA members are Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan, Beavercreek Mayor Bob Stone, Canton Mayor Tom Bernabie, Lancaster Mayor David Scheffler, Middletown Mayor Nicole Condrey, and Springfield Mayor Warren Copeland.
