Columbus, OH – The Ohio Mayors Alliance Board of Directors issued the following statement following the House passage of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act:

We applaud the bipartisan passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. These historic investments in our roads and bridges will help create jobs now and strengthen America’s infrastructure for the next generation.

We are proud of those members of Congress who crossed party lines and supported this legislation, including Sen. Rob Portman and Rep. Anthony Gonzalez. We also want to thank Sen. Sherrod Brown and all the members of the Ohio delegation for their support and long-standing advocacy for these important investments.

We would like to also recognize the leadership of mayors from across the country who came together in a bipartisan way to push for this bill, in particular U.S. Conference of Mayors President, Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley. Her tireless advocacy, along with her Republican counterpart, Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, were key to getting this historic bipartisan bill across the finish line.

The Ohio Mayors Alliance is a bipartisan coalition of mayors in over two dozen of Ohio’s largest cities. The board of directors includes: Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan, Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther, Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn, Kettering Mayor Don Patterson, Lancaster Mayor David Scheffler, Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter, and Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown.
