Ohio Mayors Alliance Board Statement on US Debt Limit
September 21, 2021
Columbus, OH – The Ohio Mayors Alliance Board of Directors issued the following statement addressing the need for congressional action on the U.S. debt limit:
“As a bipartisan coalition of mayors, we are urging Congress to set partisan politics aside and address the debt limit in a responsible, bipartisan way. Now is not the time to let politics or other priorities threaten this basic tenet of fiscal responsibility. As mayors from opposing parties, we don’t always agree, but we do know that the United States must pay its bills. To do anything less would threaten our economic recovery and create further instability for families, workers, businesses, and local communities like ours.”
The Ohio Mayors Alliance is a bipartisan coalition of mayors in over two dozen of Ohio’s largest cities. The board of directors includes: Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther, Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn, Kettering Mayor Don Patterson, Lancaster Mayor David Scheffler, Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter, and Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown.
