Columbus, OH – The Ohio Mayors Alliance, a bipartisan coalition of mayors in Ohio’s largest cities, released the following statement from Executive Director Keary McCarthy following Governor Mike DeWine’s state of state address:
“We would like to thank Gov. DeWine for his leadership and the ongoing partnership his administration has provided to support Ohio’s cities and local communities. We also applaud the work of Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel and the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge.
“Cities thrive when families are healthy, and healthy kids are the foundation of strong communities. We are proud to support this work and we know that education, fitness, and wellness extends far beyond the classroom and into the heart of our neighborhoods.”
The Team Tressel Fitness Challenge program encourages students to set fitness goals and develop habits that support both physical and academic success. Many schools throughout Ohio and in our cities are participating in the program and giving students the tools to stay active, eat well, and build confidence.
The Ohio Mayors Alliance is a bipartisan coalition of mayors in Ohio’s 31 largest cities, and the Ohio Mayors Alliance Foundation provides non-partisan policy and research support to cities. For more information, including a list of members, visit: OhioMayorsAlliance.org.
