Federal Grant Funding
- The USDOJ COPS Hiring Program (CHP) is now accepting applications for law enforcement agencies to hire or rehire career law enforcement officers. There are two application deadlines: June 6, 2024, and June 12, 2024.
- The USDOJ Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) has opened applications for several new grant programs: COPS Microgrants are designed to advance crime fighting, community engagement, problem solving, or organizational changes in support of community policing. Applications are due May 21, 2024.
- Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS): Promoting Access to Crisis Teams (PACT) provides funding to support the implementation of crisis intervention teams, including embedding behavioral or mental health professionals with law enforcement agencies, training for law enforcement officers and embedded behavioral or mental health professionals in crisis intervention response, or a combination of these. Applications are due May 21, 2024.
- The US Dept. of Energy released a 2nd round of funding for its Resilient and Efficient Codes Implementation grants, which prioritize collaboration among state and local partners to update and modernize local building and zoning codes in ways that increase energy efficiency. Up to $90 million will be awarded.
- The US Department of Transportation has opened up applications for its Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. Planning and demonstration grants are being awarded in 3 waves, with deadlines on April 4, 2024, May 16, 2024, and August 29, 2024. Implementation grants must be submitted by May 16, 2024. We have heard from our partners in DC that if cities have not yet received an SS4A award, they are *very* likely to receive an award if they apply this year.
State Grant Funding
OneOhio Recovery Foundation
- The OneOhio Recovery Foundation’s first ever Regional Grant Process begins on March 4, 2024. Information is available at the foundation’s Grant Headquarters, and grant applications may be submitted between April 2 and May 3, 2024.
Climate and Pollution Reduction
- The OH Dept of Development’s Renewable Energy and Grid Resilience Program is accepting applications for projects that will reduce energy consumption by at least 15% in cities and other public entities.

Housing
- Funding is now available through the Welcome Home Ohio program, which will provide up to $100 million in grants and $50 million in nonrefundable tax credits for the purchase, construction, and/or rehabilitation of qualifying residential properties.
- The Ohio Dept. of Development’s Homeless Crisis Response Program and Housing Assistance Grant Program award funding on a ongoing regional basis. Click the links for more information.
Economic Development
- The Department of Development is now accepting proposals for the All Ohio Future Fund. The purpose is to support local communities with site-readiness and preparation to attract economic development opportunities.
- Eligible communities are encouraged to submit proposals for Innovation Hub funding. The Dept. of Development is accepting proposals for innovation hub funding in communities that don’t currently have a hub.
Public Safety
- The Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services is accepting applications for grants to reduce the impact of the use and misuse of opioids, stimulants, and other substances. Grants should support the development, expansion, or enhancement of substance use deflection and pre-arrest diversion programs. This money comes from a federal grant through the Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use Program (COSSUP).
- The Ohio Dept. of Public Safety’s Office of Criminal Justice Services current Requests for Proposals include body-worn camera grants and RecoveryOhio grants for local law enforcement agencies.
Ohio Water Development Authority Loan Programs
- The OWDA offers a variety of programs that provide low-cost loans to local governments to address water infrastructure, coastal erosion, dams, and distressed watersheds. More information here.
